Slowly Fating -In imitation of "Russia 1812"-
The heat, the sun, the burns.
There was nowhere that they could turn
They remember the plane as it was falling.
They shudder at the thought of the people crying,
screaming. How many days? How many days
had they been out here? They were walking in a haze.
The heat, it scorched their skin.
Were they walking in circles? Had they already been?
Without any water, the food was no more.
How many days has it been? Two days, three, even four?
Why is this girl on the ground? Get up! The quiet air.
No response. You cared for this girl. It’s not fair.
You never even had time to learn where she was from.
Walking away, you feel your heart beating like a drum.
The beat is slowing. Where did everyone go?
Not sensing their presence beside you - no!
Not the heat again with its unforgiving gaze.
The never-ending desert seems like a maze.
It’s hard to ignore the burning dryness in your throat.
Chances of escaping are long forgot.
You glare at the sun for what seems the last time,
And relax in knowing all will be fine.
You feel this is the end as a plane flies overhead;
But it shows no sign of intending to land.
Close your eyes my lost child.
Ease your worry in knowing you’ll be by my side.
