He wakes up to another day,
Another exhausting, empty, meaningless day.
He unwillingly gets out of his bed rest leisure,
While his head tries to convince him to resist this procedure.

He walks to the kitchen and makes a cup of coffee.
The silence of his house fills the room as he nibbles on some Christmas toffee.
He slowly sips the cup until the contents disappear.
Wishing for the day that he too perishes into thin air.

He forcibly pulls himself together,
Although he is becoming consumed by gloomy weather.
He goes throughout the day faking smiles and laughs,
Hoping no one will see past his deceitful mask.

He has lost all the hope he once had in his future.
Now his family and friends refer to him as the party pooper.
Little do they know he’s drowning in misery.
Depression has a lifetime lock on him, and will never let him free.
