your not ugly but society is

He goes out the door,

You stand by the door watching as he gets in the cab

You're eyes getting watery as he waves goodbye and blows you a kiss

But you hold it in for the sake of your child as he watches his daddy leaves

The cab slowly fades as you closed your eyes he disappeared

Your child yelling, “Dada!”

You want burst in tears,

But sometimes you just have to be strong

You go inside and put your child to sleep.

You hold him in your arms and it’s as if seeing your husband all over again

His flesh, his eyes, the way he smiles, and the way he looks at you just like his father

You just look at your child and just smile and give him a kiss in his forehead

As you put him in his crib your emotions are all over the place and your mind can't help
But to think things that can go wrong
But sometimes you just have to be strong

As you go to the living room and turn on the T.V.
Everything so quiet and you feel alone and scared.
You can't hear nothing but the voices going on in your head
You get up and grave a family photo family album
You start flipping through the pages
You see him with your son and yourself so happy
You start smiling and start remembering the moments when you guys were together
But sometimes you just have to be strong

You start thinking and realize that you can't be that selfish
If he’s not with you all the time it’s for your own good
He’s in the Marine’s
You should be happy for him and be proud for him
He’s fighting for your country to keep all us safe and make peace
He goes to war to defend our country and its people
All the sacrifices he's making for our country
Then you think to yourself
Sometimes I just have to be strong
And then you start thinking about those sacrifices
One that can even take his life away, for instance
Someone can kill him,
Or can he get injured,
Or can he lose an arm, a leg, or a hand
You start crying
But then again you remember that sometimes you just have to be strong

Months has passed since the last time you saw him
You’ve been on the news constantly, but you haven't heard any news from him
He hasn’t called or written back to you
You start shaking and start getting scared as you see your son
You afraid of the phone ringing and telling you that your husband is dead
Or police officers or marine men knocking on your door
Telling you the news that your husband has passed away
But sometimes you just have to be strong

It’s 10:00 and you put your son to bed in his crib
You sit in the edge in of your bed and look to your left
You take a deep breath and pray to god that he’s ok.
You pray to god to keep him safe
To keep him safe for you to see him at least one more time and for him to be with his son
You ask god for him to come home
So you can tell him how much you love him
And that you’re glad you married him and that he’s the father of your kid
And that he’s the love of your life
And that no matter what happens he will always be your husband
And that you will always love him
As you fall asleep you're just thinking
Thinking that sometimes you just have to be strong

You wake up the next morning and just when all hopes were gone
You see him coming through the door
You run up to him and drop everything you were doing with tears in your eyes
He catches you and gives you a big hug and kiss
As his son comes walking up to him
He goes and hugs him and gives him a kiss in the forehead.
You’ve got a big smile on your face because you’re again reunited with your husband
You look up and thank God
You tell your husband how much you love him and how much he means to you
He tells you that he loves you and tells you:
“Sometimes you just have to be strong.”
And you just smile and give him a kiss and a hug and have a family group hug

what inspired me to write this poem is the fact that this happens everyday in life and their are men who have a family but leaves them to fight for our country
