It’s the start of a new day
She opens her eyes, puts on a disguise
so the world will think she’s okay

Pops pills that give her false energy
because without it she’s simply not happy
but at this rate, it’ll wear off by 8:00
now her genuine soul is full of self-hate

Bottling everything up seems to be a strength of hers
for every time a state of depression occurs
She lets the thoughts in her overactive mind take over
as if allowing the demon to have power will somehow make things better

Everyone around her thinks she’s fine
if they only knew what went on in her mind
maybe they could dig up some appreciation to understand her desolation
then world wouldn’t be so full of discrimination

The author's comments:
There is a phase of subconsciousness and loneliness that all teenagers will go through at some point. I want to reach out to those who have let the outside world affect them emotionally. Just know we are all somewhat connected through various aspects of our life, even the ones we believe are too complex for others to understand.
