I want to contract into a ball as the opportunity around me atrophies,
Depression comes as a black dog to chew up the remaining bits of my dignity,
My GPA moans as it is bitten by the vile beast,
And the Ivy Leagues laugh by the coast to the East

Judged not by effort, judged by mark,
While the clever cheat on tests and sing with the beauty of the lark,
The clever have cheated the system, and to the system it is fair,
It is as blind as a bat but it still swoops in the air

To catch those bugs, those vermin that cheat,
While my over dwelling mind has smite me; I am defeat,
I can create a sculpture, watch its beauty glisten,
While the superiors turn away because they won't listen

In a world of billions, ignorance is bliss,
In a school like a factory, it is hit or miss,
I want to contract into a ball as the opportunity around me atrophies,
Depression comes as a black dog to chew up the remaining bits of my dignity
