The Night Sky

A sheet of clear midnight blue
Stretched across the sky
Dark and deep with an inky hue
Starting from the ground, it seemed so nigh

Not a single cloud
Could be espied,
Once darkness began to shroud
Like a black cloak, long and wide

That night there was a full moon
A luminescent ball
Encircled by a halo,
It captivated and enthralled all

Endless were the stars
Countless; more than a year’s
Worth of hours
And they perforated the sky

As if someone had
Spilled a bottle of glitter,
The stars twinkled
Against a jet-black paper

The moon shone with all its might
The stars twinkled up high
And seemed to pierce the night,
That star-strewn indigo sky

I gazed at it, and
Marveled its pulchritude
As I sat alone in my room
Enjoying the bliss of solitude

And as I looked, I noticed
The beauty of creation
And this star-strewn indigo sky
From many wonders, is one
