The Race for love
A dark room, the beast was nowhere to be seen
 A single, red rose
Floats in the middle of the room covered by a glass case
It stands there as if frozen in time
The Beast’s muffled roar slips into the room, mixing with the fresh smell of the night air
 The rose
stays concealed in it’s glass case,
 It’s aroma, held as prisoner

 never to escape
 A picture hangs--in the background,
Reminding the beast of what will never be if love is never found

Why won’t she just eat with me?
 I give her a room—I give her a roof- I give her a dress
 Stupid girl-
It’s almost time for all the petals to fall
It’s almost time for my journey to end
It’s almost time for me to stay this way forever

The owls hoot in the night, as the beast slowly drifts off to sleep

 A single petal
Floats off the rose and onto the table top

One more day has gone by

 One more day is lost

 One more day without love
 The beast’s eyes close
 He is unaware
 That love
  Is closer then he thinks.
