Little Girl
A little girl, afraid to bring
 Her colors to the light.
You brought her forth and dolled her up,
And taught her how to shine.

A little girl, afraid to be
What she hopes she has within.
You picked her up and reached inside
 And watched her life begin.

A little girl, too scared to let
 Her insidest self be shown.
You took her words and raised her voice
And let her thoughts be known.

A little girl, all plagued inside
By fear and dread and doubt.
You brought her hope and touched her heart
And let her learn to shout.

A little girl, too scared to try
To fly in case she'd fall
You spread her winds, and watched her soar,
And so I love you one and all.
