I am blind
I am blind

I wonder what the sunset looks like from a view

I hear whispers of curiosity that tickle my ear

I see nothing but fear in my own eyes
I want a single day of sight
 I am blind

I pretend the darkness I see is the darkness of the night

I feel embarrassed but yet ignored

I touch the stick that lights the path to everywhere I go

I worry that I won’t be able to see the future

I cry at the opportunities I may never have

 I am blind

I understand that I am not like them, I am different

I say that it’s not what you see but what you believe

I dream of the moment the flickering sun is blown out

I try seeing what I think and thinking what I feel

I hope that the darkness in front of me is just me hiding under my covers

 I am blind
