Black Potatoes
dark clouds fill the sky
the people of Ireland are wondering why?
it rains and pours for a few days

 harvesting time for the praties
 finally food for the family

 no one starving
 no one whining

the potatoes are dark and spotted

 not good enough too eat
 soon hunger pains at them
urning for a meal to devour

hunger makes a man an animal

why did God send this here
 on a midnight so clear
but the English laugh and taunt
and it will not haunt their bitter hearts
