The Sixth of June
and I couldn’t have asked for anything more
than the night when the whole world stopped for us
and the sun beckoned for us to follow
with my wet Levis painting the street
and your words painting my mind
as we made our way down Lazy Brook
pacing the road with nothing to find
the flowers all bowed their heads out of courtesy for us
and the waters slowed its steady current there after
the stars rose to see us on our way
and all of the robins stopped their chatty laughter
as I walked down the golden line that divides the north from the south
we continued our epic chapter
you stood behind me and watched me catch the raindrops in my mouth
all of the moments I tried to capture
every step began to quicken as we stumbled up Spinning Wheel
and every step is cushioned underneath us
with the gentle puddles of teal
through the puddles we row
and I couldn’t have asked for anything more
than the night when the whole world stopped for us
and the sun beckoned for us to follow
