Daddy’s Off White Ballerina

As the butterfly’s wing stroke her hair
She kneels down to send Jesus a prayer
Daddy reassures her it will get there
With some butterfly kisses and thoughtful stare
Daddy’s little girl
He kneels down next to her
Watching her grow up in a blur
Tears come to his eyes remembering the memory that occurred
She looks like a ballerina as he gives her a twirl
Daddy don’t cry
He lets out a relieving sigh
How did he let all these years sneak by?
She is a young lady in the blink of an eye
She lets out her gorgeous brown hair so he can see the curl
He leans over and gingerly kisses her head
Letting her know to be careful in the years ahead
On the shirt of her father she tugs on the loose thread
This just may be the end
He plays with her necklace made of dull white pearls
Daddy we can make it together, she sings
She pulls him in for a hug and they cling
They remember back to her ballerina age when they would swing
And her hair would be stroked by the butterfly’s wings
