My Special Pet

The cat was too big
The mouse was too small
The Jackrabbit was too wild
The dog was too tall
but when I spotted it, my life changed
I named it Mike; for it was its sake
it was gold, like the necklace on my mom’s neck
For it was as precious as can be
It was not too big
Too small
Too wild
Too tall
It was the perfect pet for me.
