Unconditionally

First there was one
With the deep brown eyes
And the do-no-wrong smile
Who put his hand on her back
And wiped her eyes when she cried.
He brought her breakfast in bed
And he loved her unconditionally.

Then there were two
And he looked at her with a special stare
That he saved just for her
And she saw fireworks when he kissed her.
His touch was electric,
His gaze hypnotic,
And he loved her unconditionally.

Then there were three
He send her flowers
And showered her with affection
His secrets were hers
And hers belonged to him.
He was addictive
And he loved her unconditionally.

Then there were two
One last breakfast in bed
And her tears fell freely
With no one to catch them.
One more kiss on the firehead
And then he was gone
But he still loved her unconditionally.

Then there was one
With a shattered heart
And sad, swollen eyes.
His fingers were stained with nicotine
But his eyes still held hers tight
And his touch still shocked her skin
And he still loved her
Unconditionally.
