To the Beach
“Muddy roads covered with water,
 There’s something on it.”
 That’s what I think. But I don’t care
 To go look.

 Behind me a dog barking,
To wait for her. The smell
Came closer to me. I run.

 Ocean waves moving like
 Dark, hard winds. Pebbles
Going back and forth in the water.

 The sound of children splashing,
 Yelling, having fun, boats.
 The smell of the ocean.

 The feeling on my feet,
 The warm, small thing, don’t
 Know what it is.

 Looking down at the ground,
There is sand. My sandals covered
 With it. Making me run.

I see the beach all filled with people
Where to go? I don’t care,
Go in the water, have fun.

 The Sun is burning, badly
Dive in the water, green turtles.
 What to do now?

 Late day everyone is gone.
 Sitting alone watching the ocean
 Move slowing. Like a turtle.

Waiting for the sun to disappear,
 Calm, dark, getting the chills,
 Time to go back home.

 Light, shadow on the ground,
Shadow of me, following me around.
 Silence around, lights off.

 Home sweet home,
 Getting ready for bed,
 Another day is tomorrow.
