A Love They'll Never Have
i wish i could be as strong as i say i am.
but truthfully, i'm crumbling to pieces.
i wanna stand tall like you can,
and not stand-out like a different species.
 and the more i try to stand tall;
 the more i don't cry,
i start to stumble and fall...
but you catch me and make it right.
 i cant believe this feeling!
knowing you want to be mine!
 seeing this heart you're steeling,
that's been hurt so many times.
yet it always has unbruised spots
where you may go and rest.
i pray that you wont be another love clot,
and that you wont be like all the rest.
right now, all i can give is love.
but soon, i will hold you tight.
and you've assured me that i'm good enough...
i just hope that you're right.
 but then i hear
 noise forming words
 speaking my fears,
 telling our curse.
 "that's not right!"
 "that's just wrong!"
 i hear it every night.
everyone knows the lyrics to that song.
 but then i'm told
 that age doesn't matter
 and we should stand tall
 past all the chatter.
 and i know that's right...
 our love isn't bad!
so they can sleep at night,
dreaming of a love they'll never have.
