Brick Walls

I broke down the wall,
that heavy brick wall.
And it crumbled.
I stepped over the ruins,
and felt triumphant.
And there was another one,
staring me in the face.
So I broke down the wall,
that heavy brick wall.
It took me longer this time.
But I stepped over the ruins,
and grinned.
Another frickin' wall looked me in the eye.
So I barreled through that wall as well,
and it fell to the ground.
Took me forever this time.
But I broke down that wall,
that heavy brick wall.
I trudged on.
Yet another wall blocked my path.
I shot myself towards it;
and didn't make a dent.
I pummeled on it with my fists,
I hit and kicked at it,
and all it did was make my foot sore.
I sobbed and yelled and screamed.
But that wall sat there defiantly,
daring me to try again.
So I just sat,
with my back to it.
And I cried.
