Just for a Weekend
As we drive on the expressway
I leave my dark worries
Behind me- the sweet smell of freedom
Filling my heart with joy and
A light happiness
Knowing that I will be here for the weekend
Later, in the darkening woods I
Step from the warm car and blue
Minty air moves against
My skin with cool refreshment bending
Naked tree limbs
In a chorus of song and
Waving branches
I see the sweet orange sunset
Smeared across the sky before me and
As all of this was unfolding I
Realized that
This earth is everywhere I am
That I am away from it only when
I stop listening and looking for its
Welcome and wonder outside
My hearts window
