Carly,

You’re leaving for college and you’re off to Pitt.
But before you leave, I must admit.
For these last fourteen years you have not been a sister to me.
Because a mentor, a shoulder on which to lean, a comedian and a best friend is what you’ll always be.

A mentor:
From straightening hair and how to be outgoing to name a few,
There would be no way to get through it all if it weren’t for you.
I look up to you in every possible way.
And you teach me things every single day.
I hope to be as amazing as my big sister.
And god knows I will forever miss her.

A shoulder on which to lean:
Each day when I came home upset,
You would always say the right things to make me forget.
I’m never ashamed crying in front of you,
Because I know that you will understand me through and through.
If I have a problem you always let me vent,
And I want to let you know how much to me that has meant.

A comedian:
I am your best audience for every small joke you make.
I laugh so hard you make my stomach ache.
I’ve never laughed as hard then when I’m with you
The things you say are really hilarious. It’s true!
No matter what you say I think it’s funny,
You always make my world feel sunny.

A best friend:
We have had so many fun, amazing times that I could count ‘til dawn,
And once you go to college those times will keep on adding on.
When I’ m with you I can be totally myself,
And that’s what a person wishes for themselves.
You make my life a little greater each and every day.
I know that our bond can only grow stronger when you go away.

You’re the person I look up to,
You’re the person to who I cry,
You’re the one who makes me laugh,
You’re the one who is saying goodbye.

You are so much more than a sister to me and I love you SOOOO much!
I hope you have the greatest time of your life in college!

Love always,

Becca

I wrote this to my big sister Carly the night before she left for college. With every sentence another tear dropped from my eyes. I miss her more and more each day and I really love her.

This was really good... it made me think about the kind of sister I want to be to my little sister. I only hope she looks up to me as much as you look up to your sister :)
