4am Meditation MAG

By Anonymous

   4AM, and here I lie.

Awake.

Unmoving.

Unsleeping. but definitely not

Unthinking.

(I only wish)

I could turn off

The thoughts in my head that

Circle

Endlessly. like vultures.

Thinking

Of the end of the world as I knew it.

Well, not exactly;

But close enough.

Thinking of when

He left.

Leaving my

Heart

Soul

Pride. and

Joy

Shattered - like broken

Eggshells at my feet.

(I did learn one thing, though).

You can't mend a broken heart with

Scotch tape.

So here I am now,

Wondering/wishing/hoping that

Perhaps.

Five towns over.

In a brown house on a corner,

In a bedroom I knew too well;

Someone

Else is also lying awake

At 4AM.

Staring at his ceiling

With the same thoughts I have,

Pondering the mistake

(It's not too late to fix),

That separated us.

Not likely. I roll over to face the wall

And let my thoughts

Drift

Out to a

Twilight zone, a hazy

Never-never land where

Life is still good and

Dreams

Still come true.

Great poem!- detail, good comparisons, and especially your line breaks really add to it. PS: Usually I keep my comments to the poem I'm commenting on, but I can't help it....

NathanFok- You just don't say that! Even if this was a "bad" poem, (it's not) you say what you like and what you think could be improved. If everyone on TI was that negative, nobody would want to submit anything! For future reference, try to be a little more optimistic!
