The author of that word
That hated word
Must've known what it was like to have
Venom spread around her
Running like a river
Through her mouth
Her innocent mouth
Consuming her
Discovering everywhere she looked
Another rumor was born
Or discovered
Or changed

The author of that word
Of that poisonous word
Must've known what it was like to hear
Whispers march around her ears
Hateful whispers dug into her
Scooping out the remains
Of her soul
Her innocent soul
Emptying her
Seeing that everywhere she listened
Another whisper was heard
And stung
And duf

A ghostly word
That no one had heard
That iced your bones
Made you feel alone
She needed some comfort
But all they did to her
Was spread more tales of lies

They found her
On her bed
one word
Carved
Into her forearm
A word nobody knew
But everyone heard of

And she bled to death
From the word
RUMORS
