From braces and rubber bands.
I am from lightening bugs
Fluttering in the summer night sky.

I am from grandpa’s stories
And mom’s pumpkin pie
From dad’s overbearing
Protectiveness of his little girl.

I am from outrageous
Eleven foot Christmas trees
And joyous Thanksgiving feasts.

I am from sports
Where the streets are crowded
With people swinging bats
and kicking balls.

I am from corned beef and cabbage
And ranch dressing on salads
Where dessert always comes last

I am from the past, present and future,
