"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." -Marilyn Monroe

Your little girl cut
Because your little girl cried
Alone at night when you thought she was sleeping,
Alone at night –
She fell asleep weeping.

Your little girl cut
Because some things were too hard to bear,
Alone when you thought she was studying,
Alone whenever –
She fell asleep weeping.

Your little girl cut
Because she couldn't take the hurt,
Alone and you thought she was cleaning,
Alone and instead she was bleeding –
She fell asleep weeping.

Your little girl cuts
Because your little girl needs,
Alone, she's numb and cold,
Alone, she can't take much more –
She fell asleep weeping.

Your little girl cuts
Because she wants control,
Alone and inside she's dying,
Alone, she's always crying –
She fell asleep weeping.

Your little girl cuts
And now you can't understand
Why your perfect daughter
Would take a razor in her hand,
Drag it across her skin,
But your little girl's not perfect …
She fell asleep weeping.

Your little girl's a cutter
Who needs your help,
She needs to feel loved,
Instead she feels alone …
She fell asleep weeping.

Your little girl cuts
Because she hurts inside,
You might not want to believe,
But it's true …
She fell asleep weeping.

Your little girl cuts
Because she feels empty,
She wishes you wanted to help,
But all you want to do is yell;
She fell asleep weeping.

Don't let me fall asleep feeling empty again,
Don't let me cry myself to sleep
Feeling alone again,
Please let me talk to you,
Please help me get through
The hurt
The pain
Your little girl's crying again …

She fell asleep weeping …

The author's comments:
Cutting is a horrible way of coping that teens actually do. It's not something to be ashamed of. What's to be ashamed of is if you can't talk to anyone about it.

your poem, is the story of my life! I read this in the magazine, and I realized there where other people out there that felt the same. I took this poem home with me and hung it on my wall, it has been on my wall since last year, and still is. This poem is my favorite poem, it has a lot of meaning.

Beautiful. I've had times in my life when I felt so alone and like there was no one who understood. It's nice to know that people like me, people who feel, are not alone.
