I sort of kind of...
I know how I feel about you
 I don’t understand why
I do know that I think of you
 All the time

 I laugh at your jokes
 When they aren’t funny
I like to walk by you without saying a word
Just so that you’ll stop me

I like how you say my name
 I love how you laugh
I feel the connection between us
 I dream about you constantly

I speak your name in my sleep
Friends have told me and then laughed
I feel myself lonely with out you
So I’ve made up my mind

I’m going to tell you today
I’m going to tell you that I like you
I will say everything I want you to know
Because now that you don’t, it’s awkward

So I pull you aside and ask to talk
You say okay and we go there
To that one spot where we go everyday
 And we sit down

 You ask me what’s up
I start to stumble over my words
 The butterflies are flying around
I say never mind and tell you to go on

You speak for a few minutes
When you look back up to me
 You see it
You see the way I’m looking down

You know that I don’t want to speak
I imagined you put it together then
 You’re smart like that
So you ask again what’s up

 I stumble again
The words will not come to me
You ask for me to tell you
 I just shake my head

 You ask again
I stare down at my feet
Pull the hair out from behind my ear
Making a curtain of blonde fall between us

 “I sort of…”
 The words fall….
 Silence
 “You sort of… what?”

 I take a breath
 Close my eyes
 And speak
“I sort of kind of like you.”

 I whispered it
 You didn’t hear me
“What?” You ask moving to where you can see my face.
“I sort of kind of like you.”

 I repeat it
Making this only worse on me
I know the words you’ll say next
 I dread them

I only wanted to tell you
Because you are my best friend
You have a right to know
This is what pushed me forward

“Do you want to go out?”
 I look up in shock
Did you really just say that?
A smile is your only answer
