You hurt me.
Alot.
And I still regret
the lost time,
the wasted tears,
the displaced trust.
But
I no longer
want to beat you
to a bloody pulp.
I don't wince anymore
whenever you come near me.
I don't silently curse
you for every lie and broken promise
and me for believing them.
We are no longer friends,
but
I don't want to be enemies,
either.
And when you leave
I want to be able
to say good-bye
with no hard feelings.

This poem is for my former best friend, Dalton, who sent me an email saying he didn't want to be friends anymore. I wrote this poem a few weeks later, when I found out hye was changing schools.
