Blue

My favorite color is blue. Not the deep dark blue that encapsulates the oceans vast depth, but the light crystal-like turquoise. I love the color blue for its shades, hues, and endless meaning. The water has always given me a feeling of home. The water calms me. When I struggle mentally, I always resort to the water to calm me down: I swim, watch the waves, or take a shower; whatever it might be, I need to wash it off. The ocean does that for me. It washes away the pain, and allows me to breathe. For others it can represent sadness, peace, tranquility, and joy. Whether it be from the summer’s blue sky or the dark pitted ice, it can hold vastly different meanings. For me, I grew up on the water, in love with the ocean; begging my family to watch Nemo again and again as well as swimming, never leaving the water. The color blue intrigues me, intoxicating me with memories; my first dive in Bonaire, the salty air after stepping off of the plane in the Cayman Islands, the catamaran we sailed on in Loreto, Mexico, to simply getting lost in the shine of the sun; Watching the radiant reflection reaching the waves. I love the color blue.
