Old Love Song

I am like an old love song.

I wonder about the beauty of love and the ins and out of it all.

I hear the melody within the lyrics and float among the glorious sound.

I see the beauty within anything, and peace in it all.

I want to get lost within every word, and follow every beat.

I am like an old love song.

I pretend to not understand every word beyond just the song.

I feel the meaning behind every word, and every chorus.

I touch the beat and soundwaves in a way I can’t explain.

I worry about forgetting the lyrics, and not feeling the melody.

I cry to the lyrics that cut far too deep, and open up files in my memory.

I am like an old love song.

I understand that love is everywhere, but not good to all.

I say love is more than just a human need, but more like a chemical reaction.

I dream to one day experience the love within the lyrics of an old love song.

I try to understand things way beyond just words, but also feelings.

I hope to experience something deeper than my own naive idea of love.

My name is Hermione Centeno I am an 18 year old Senior in CO, I wrote this poem as a class assignment. I've always loved reading romance novels, and watching romance movies, but most importantly I love reading love poems. I feel that what is the point of having all these feelings and ideas of love, but not sharing it with the world. In my poem there are simple lines but there are also more complex lines that have a deeper meaning, just like a love song. I hope i reach a crowd that loves romance as much as I do :) enjoy.
