Bad Essays
Bad essays like to confuse me.
They argue one thing yet mean something else.
Usually, only I understand the point,
But, to others, it’s challenging to find a compromise.
The structure of words on a page becomes a labyrinth, impossible to navigate.
Peer editing makes me sweat,
Flaws get highlighted in arguments,
Making the essay before me an eyesore.
Sitting at the dining table with a voice nagging at me-
Yelling at me, making me feel like a bother.
Walking away and taking a breath can help.
So can extending the deadline-
I put more heart and meaning behind my phrases,
And the fog begins to lift.
An essay is a two-way street,
Both the reader and writer must understand the concept.
Thought and effort make relationships connect
Once that understanding becomes clear
A multidimensional draft will appear,
Ready to be read.
