A New Guitar
The sounds of the strings ring free,
Note after note, prolonging the end.
The melody carries its own story,
Guitar is my company, my friend.
It sings until broken,
Or until a new chapter is opened.
A new guitar, steel, or nylon,
Like a new world, new city, I fall on.
Pick it up, play a chord
Now onto this new house we must learn to afford.
My fingers aren’t adapted, infected by calluses,
Staring at all the new faces in all my new classes.
I constantly play now an indiscretion,
Life is like guitars, you only see progression.
But sometimes they break or wear, and you lose your progress,
Learn to resist,
Learn to persist.
As it only takes a tuning to make it right,
All I can do is hope, look to the light.
This new tuned guitar makes a new sound;
Like a new town.
Will I be lost,
Or will I be found?

I recently started playing guitar and it has become a safe space for me to forget about my problems and I connect new guitars to my many times when I move schools.
