The Big Day

Bouquets of roses and carnations bloom

Silken vows whisper,

Like petals on a gentle breeze.

Love’s fragrance,

a sweet affair.

In the photos in front of the waterfall

Two hearts entwine in love's embrace.

Honeymoon Phase

Being with you;

all smiles and giggles,

no twists or riddles.

Every second spent together

I will forever cherish.

Let us stay in this Honeymoon phase forever.

Full of

Long good morning texts

The new car smell and

First snow of the year.

My greatest desire

Is to spend the rest of my life with you;

Being your wife and provider

No matter what.

Even when you get angry with me,

I will forever love you.

The Newborn

The white walls of the room create a backdrop for the miracle about to take place. Soft lights wash over the room, with the air becoming thick with anticipation. Beads of sweat glisten on the woman’s forehead as the man finishes his work on his computer with his feet propped up on a chair. The sound of the beeps from the monitors create a rhythm that’s heard throughout the room. The contractions intensify as the woman’s muscles work in harmony despite the waves of pain circulating in her body. A piercing cry then echoes throughout the room as the couple’s new baby takes her first breath. The mother's eyes, filled with wonder and exhaustion, meet the gaze of her new baby girl, cradled in a pink blanket. The father leans in and traces his fingertips alongside the baby’s face. However, with no sense of love in the father’s eyes, the father realizes that a family has been born.

The Other Woman

Did you love her more than me?

Did her lips fit better onto yours?

Did you think of me when you embraced

Or was I simply replaced?

What once felt like a dream

Now feels like a nightmare,

tearing me piece to piece.

Is there a place of forgiveness in this affair,

Or is it time to let go and breathe in fresh air?

Moving On

In the travels of love,

a union was once strong

But a fragment emerged,

a note gone wrong.

A chapter in our story had closed.

Two paths diverged,

as providence imposed.

A partition,

a crumbled work of art.

Yet new beginnings were bound to start.
