You deserved better
To my younger self,
If only you hadn't gone through that tough year.
You'd probably not be as strong as you are today.
If only I could go back two years ago and give you a hug, I would.
I’m sorry for letting you down and giving up.
You didn't deserve any of it,
but look at how far you've come.
I am so proud of you.
You’ve finally found yourself,
without him.
You were only 15 years old,
you were losing yourself to someone who didn’t care about you.
If I could go back in time, I would’ve never let
him destroy your heart.
I would’ve found healthier ways to cope.
I would've tried a little harder in school and in myself.
I would've never let one stupid boy ruin everything.
Sophomore year was tough,
but if it wasn't for those hard times,
I wouldn't be as strong as I am now,
Compared to two years ago.
My advice to my younger self is to never focus
on a boy who did you wrong,
and never let someone else hurt you so much
that you lose yourself completely.
In the end,
you're the only one who will always be there for yourself.

This poem is advice to my younger self. Something I can go back to and reflect on. Things come and go in waves even our hardest times, but eventually it will get better.
