Meaningless Words
You promised the world,
but gave me nothing.
You guaranteed Heaven,
but this is empty.
You gave me a glimpse of the light
and like a moth to a flame,
I went right to it.
The light burns now.
It burns more every day.
You told me Heaven but gave me Hell.
But can this really be Hell?
No.
Because Hell implies rage and Hell implies hate.
And there are those things,
but there was a time where there weren’t.
Or is this just me trying to hold on to what I thought was good?
Is this just me trying to save you,
like I have been for far too long.
Is this me trying to convince myself
Maybe you’ll change because
Deep down I
And everyone else knows you won't.
Because you had the chance to change,
but you just gave me meaningless words.

I think that this comes from the part of everybody who is just so stuck on someone or something that they are willing to somehow see a good side when in reality they should be letting go.
