Study While You Dream
I’m out here all alone, why don’t you come join me?
The air is brisk and I could use the company;
these crows are starting to get annoying.
Why do you pretend I’m not here?
You look so cozy up there,
your made bed in the background.
I bet it’s warm and you’re ready to get some sleep;
you’re in your nightgown.
But no, don’t mind me, out here all night, all alone.
I’m starting to have conversations with the wind,
I bet you would be fun to talk to.
I wish you would let me in, just to talk.
Why do you look so distressed?
Is this gloomy blue night scaring you?
Is there anything I can do?
Did you finally notice me in the brush?
The moonlight shining through the window,
and gleaming off your face and your hair,
you look beautiful.
I bet you’re wondering what all these crows are doing.
Don’t worry, you’ll find out soon enough,
when your husband doesn't come upstairs for bed.
