Social Criticism
women of all shapes and sizes
sit and watch while anger arises
we all want the same thing
to let equality ring
in the shadows deep where justice lies
the tale unfolds of women’s cries
in lands where inequality breeds
where prejudice shows its toxic seeds
from kitchens they emerge
defying labels, they converge
equal footing we demand
a world where liberty is not unmanned
a pay divide, a wage of shame
voices loud, a haunting claim
equal worth, an impossible dream
within the workforce, let justice gleam
assaulted by a wandering eye
our worth’s beyond the beauty lie
a human with soul, still kept in a cage
in the theater of life, she takes center stage.

I chose this piece because women's rights and issues have always been something that I'm super passionate about. So, I decided I might as well write a poem about it.
