Ann Frank Tribute
She found freedom even when it felt as if we were birds being locked in a cage
She found love even when it felt like there was only hate left in the world
of war and rage
As I sit in silence day after day all I can think of is my past life but all Anne can seem to think about is her future of freedom
Unlike me she could hear the freedom bells ring
She found comfort in her future even when she didn't know if she would have one
She found the good in everything that others would find bad
The last thing Anne needed was an unfamiliar man sharing the same room with her but without hesitation she gladly let him stay
She found kindness when no one else was being kind
She found room for people even when she felt she had less room day by day
She knows this situation is only temporary but she doesn't know how long temporary will be
Anne knows that there is an unknown thief that knows we are here
The secret he holds is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode out of his mouth right into a nazis face
Her memories of her past are like a door that lets her free from this dark attic
She sits in her room staring at the pictures of beautiful places and glamorous movie stars awaiting the day she can see these places and hopefully become one of these people.
Even at the end when she knew her time was near she found joy in seeing the sun shine upon her last days
She cherished and soaked up the rays of sunlight smiling down on her face not knowing how much longer she would have
As I the father of Anne Frank and the only survivor from the secret anex sit here reading Annes diary it helps me remember how she found freedom, love, comfort, good, and kindness when so many people were giving up and letting everything bad win over the good
It reminded me of how I want to live my life and honor her and everyone who suffered in the horrible time of World War II
But most importantly it helped me remember that hope can overcome anything
I will bear witness to Anne's story by making sure as many people read her story as I can. I will also spread love, kindness, and hope instead of hate, meanness, or despair.
