The Battle Scars
The blood doesn't come off easily,
The stains will ever cling to my hand
With my shaky world in pieces,
We must fall or make a stand,
The strings are being pulled,
Twisting us, breaking us,
Until we're shivering in the cold,
Useless and finished,
Only then do we get to pretend,
To return in peace,
Broken inside and out,
And even when the screamings cease,
It will forever live on,
In our shattered hearts,
We must live in the very world,
That ripped us apart,
And if I desired to return,
It would almost be better,
While it is not for death I yearn,
This deadly silence will give it to me,
I seek the battlefield where I lost my way,
Even if I found my path once more,
I want to see where it was ripped away,
Perhaps I will find a bit of myself,
That I lost amidst the fire,
Not to be who I once was,
But to return to where my only desire,
Was to make others free,
But from the chains of the mind-
-The one
who needs to be freed is me
