Bottled Up
The burning rage you feel within
This feeling is extremely powerful
You push this feeling away and bottle it up
Then it all comes out at once
Like a bursting flame
Anger
The tears that fall from your face
This feeling hurts you the most
You push this feeling away and bottle it up
Then it all comes out at once
Like a pouring rain
Sadness
The confusion that twists your mind
This feeling messes with your head
You push this feeling away and bottle it up
Then it all comes out at once
Like a man who is insane
Frustration
The resentment that you feel towards others
This feeling feels wrong
You push this feeling away and bottle it up
Then it all comes out at once
Like your worst pain
Hate

This inspiration behind this poem was hurting my ankle. I hurt it during a football game back on October 13th. I have tried my best to stay positive about it. I push away these emotions; anger, sadness, frustration, and hate because they are bad. But it is human to have these emotions. And last week I hit my breaking point. After surgery I didn’t feel good and some very minor thing just pushed me over the edge and I just had to let it out. The emotions were all bottled up. In this poem I used a lot of repetition. Each stanza was 6 lines. The first lines all start with “The”. The second lines all start with “This feeling”. The third lines were all “You push this feeling away and bottle it up”. The fourth lines were all “Then it all comes out at once”. The fifth lines all started with “Like” and all rhymed at the end. Finally the sixth lines were all just the emotion itself. This poem was very easy to write because it’s what I am truly feeling. I enjoyed writing this piece because it allowed me to express myself and sort of ‘let out’ these emotions.
