I often remember that sunny day on the beach

I remember the crystal clear water that had almost translucent fish swimming in it

The feeling of the ice cold water as I dived in

I remember the horrible sting in my eyes as the salt water slapped my face

I remember the overwhelming scent of sunscreen in the air as families walked by

The feeling of the hot sun punching my back as I walked in the sand

I remember the grainy feeling of the sand in my hands as I made sand castles 

I remember the breeze that threatened to send our towels flying

I remember the sounds of loud music playing from multiple peoples’ speakers

The feeling of drops of water that touch my shoulder from my wet hair

I remember the light blue sky that seemed to be a blanket over us

And I remember the long journey home and how I wished to stay
