Favorite Quote:
"Sometimes, we must ponder what we can give instead of what we can gain."

As I observe the clear, sapphire skies

The curtains of magnolia brush my weary eyes

The mirthful twitters of the nearby bluebird

They heed my worries, they allow me to be heard

The monarchs and ladybugs kiss my button-nose

They are the sweetest companions, I suppose

Leaves of stevia and butterfly peas adorn my warm tea

These alleviating herbs always set my ill soul free

The nimble wind dances with its beloved, colorful leaves

Everyone may find love if only they propel their beliefs

The serene song of the fish by the dazzling river

So calm, so mellow, it never makes one quiver

The nearby amphibians dine with insect cake

Ha! How that makes my very stomach quake!

Pinecones and petunias adorn my tender head

For the bees and the rabbits declare their queen and cherished friend.

The salty waves and sea foam kiss my brown feet

As the treasures of pearls and shells diminish fear of the blazing heat

The fawn, the fox, the owl, the badger, the bear

All different species, yet it is the endearing survival they share

Mountains, rivers, forests, oceans, blimey— the very sky itself!

The very depth and character they hold are more precious than the same thing we call wealth!

Take a seat and ponder…

If so many adore Mother Earth with such admiration and yearn to wander…

Why do we make our planet suffer and squander?

The kaleidoscope of our rich forests is becoming bleakly cruel

Prismatic reefs, once regal ridges, wither in the hands of our wicked fuel

Our waters, fresh and salty, scattered with plastic and rubbish

Our beloved creatures, born to be free, yet abused and wrongfully punished

Our air, once clear and free, is now polluted with hate and contamination

Our nourishing foods, wasted day by day, we now search in desperation

Our Mother Earth, she is scorched with anger, and wrongfully warmed!

Beloved animals, once thriving, we now mourn!

Mama Earth, Gaia, Great Mother— however, you must name her

She is greatly suffering because we fail to see our intentions blur!

Heed my warning, my precious friends!

We must take action,

prevent the world’s untimely ends!

The author's comments:

Hello, beautiful people! My name is Sarah, and I am an environmental advocate. Ever since I was a child, I have always been drawn to nature. From embarking to the Everglades to dancing in my backyard, nature has always been a comforting factor. I feel like we tend to take nature’s gifts for granted, and we must appreciate what nature has to offer. Therefore, this poem is a reflection of what can become of our world if we do not save it.
