love letters
why do some pretty words
never quite match intent
why does your inattentiveness
not match the time spent
on what you alone care for
though that’s never me
on the love that you cling to
like roots of a tree
why does avarice drip from you,
honey from nest
why does gluttony pool
from the heart in your chest
as I spell out your avarice, dripping in gold
it feels like the word for a love never told
and although I know gluttony just eats away
my mind hears skipped heartbeats instead of decay
but your thirst for my loving
is nothing but greed
and your self-righteous pride
will still always exceed
for the love that you feel for me
as it is none
cannot be replaced
by a meaning unwon
