Old Identity
1.
There’s something you should know, improved educator,
It wasn’t always this easy.
You were once submerged under the tyrannical rule of basic poetry,
You were once informed about complex poets and that through their work,
You could be like them.
You could thrive in creative writing.
2.
But first you needed to prove your worthiness.
The problem was that you were engulfed by negativity,
Because of hatred for past failures,
You thought no form of expression could intrigue you.
You didn’t start your new identity.
3.
You came across a specific poem which vividly changed your views.
Although you do not remember the poem,
You remembered your spark which created a new set of skills
That you integrated into your work
When it was most valuable.
4.
Your “new” identity was formed after you were able to prove
The very reason you are a writer,
To show people your craziest form of conversation,
Touching the depths of realism.
