To the Monkey
To machines polluting our once sacred forests
To the sounds of sawing and splitting piercing the night
To the loud creaks and groans as the trees draw their last breath
To the shrieks and wails of my monkey brethren, having lost their eternal homes
To metal claws and saws in the name of agriculture
To the bittersweet memories of heavy canopies and twisty vines
To patches of brown without the familiar green luster
Where can we place our hope now?
