FAT
F A T
Fat.
No you´re not fat.
You´re beautiful!
I never said I wasnt.
It's not a bad word.
Skinny is a pretty word.
Fat is an ugly word.
A hunched-over, crooked word.
Small, but harmful.
Tip the scales.
The nurse looks on in disgust.
monster.
Pull at the skin.
Maybe we can cut the fat off.
Then people will be able to look
At me.
Staring at a bloody thigh,
it's still not enough.
To feel like I´m enough.
Fat.
Beautiful, but fat.
Not but.
And.
And fat.
Bautiful and fat.

I wrote this poem in my creative writing class with the prompt of our earliest childhood memory. All I remembered from my childhood was that I was fat, and how hard it was to begin loving my body as I do now. Know that you are loved, you are strong, you are smart, and you are important!
