I wake to the sound of loud rain falling and splatting against the top of my tent

The echoing alarm wakes the other campers from their slumber

I stare up at the roof of the tent, it shakes lightly 

I catch a few raindrops with my eye and watch them race down 

the side of the tent, soaking the ground below

The rain slowly comes to a halt, 

leaving the birds to fill the silence with their morning tunes

We lay in the peaceful stillness for a little while longer, 

until eventually, we decided its finally time to get up

I slip on my slippers and reach for the zipper of the blue opening of the tent

Daylight pours in causing everyone to squint to look out into the drenched forest 

Coffee is soon made, and the strong aroma of 

the coffee grounds mixed with the fresh rain make time feel very still

The whole forest begins to wake and arise, 

everything feels replenished after a bountiful shower

The hot coffee fills our stomachs and our hearts feel full

We are ready to begin the day
