Absence
You filled my lungs
with the exhaust you created
using the car you left in.
You polluted my air
with the missing words
you never told me
because you weren't there.
The thoughts of you
haunt my mind
as I can't remember
the essence of your being.
I question the care I have
for your absence.
I don't understand
the longing I desire
for your missing spirit.
Wishing I knew
the countless answers
to my endless questions.

I have had people walk in and out of my life since I was born. This poem specifically talks about a family member that walked out on me without any explanation. I love this piece becuase I believe anyone can relate to it if they've had someone or something go missing in their life. Caring for someone regardless of their actions can be one of the most devestating and powerful ideas created.
