The Sadness Within
Her head rests heavy on her hand,
Her gaze is distant, far away,
She seems lost in thought, unplanned,
As sadness taints her eyes so gray.
Her left fist supports her tired head,
Her right palm cradles her cheek so fair,
A single tear falls, unshed,
As her emotions linger there.
What troubles trouble her so much,
To make her feel so lost, undone?
Her heart is heavy, as if in clutch,
By a pain that can’t be won.
But still she goes on, day by day,
Carrying her sorrow like a weight,
Hoping for a brighter way,
To end the sadness, seal her fate.
So rest, dear girl, in quiet peace,
And know that you are not alone,
May your pain and sorrow cease,
In time, your smile may yet be shown.
