My beautiful braids
There goes the little Mexican girl
They yelled and ran over to me
They pulled my long braids side to side
All my mom’s hard work, gone
I feel bad, she wakes up earlier than she has to
To make sure me and my siblings never go
Unpresentable
But her effort is all gone
The girls tugging on my hair seem to keep laughing and playing with my hair
All i can do is wish a teacher could notice my yelping for help
But no one comes
And recess is once again over
I run to the bathroom and fix my hair
I’ve become a perfectionist from having to fix the loose strands of my hair
I just dread the next recess
But there is nothing else i can do
If I fight back I may seem to reckless
So I just stand there
Staring at them
As they tug my long beautiful braids
