Writing Slam Poem
Writing
Something and nothing
Blank pages glaring with accusing eyes
Sucking light and imagination
Reflecting the emptiness in my head
Why is it when I am asked to write
I immediately have no thoughts
No ideas
Nothing
A mirror of my mind
Reflecting back on itself
Not a book filled with words
Interest and color on every page
Even though I usually have more
Than can run around in the crowded space
Bouncing around like jumping beans
Uncontrolled chaos
But full of random ideas
Energy depleted, drifting away
Terror
Fear
Unfulfilled expectations
My pencil is dull
The pen is slipping through my fingers
The sound of scratching occurs around me
What is in their heads?
Feeling clueless and helpless
A piece of paper rolling in the dirt
Flying around an empty space
This is my mind
Nothing new exists here
Then a small spark
The beginning of an idea
Relieved, blessed and overwhelmed
