Only the Shore Knows
Listen to the waves
How majestically they reside
Tides constantly moving in and out
Breathing in and out
The water trickles to the shore
Dragging the bodies against the current
The voices flow towards the water
The push-pull effect unnoticeable
Igniting in conversation of the children’s education and futures
Never noticing how the children have grown
No longer are they the young impressionable fools
They may notice their control, but the parents never will
Instead their eyes glaze over as their children's eyes dim
The current pulling their life under
These tides are relentlessly controlled
The moon unable to let them stop
When they look at their reflections in the water
The hazy faces of the dead stare back
They are all the same
With every rotation of the Earth
Every new direction turned
They will never stop being controlled
With every passing day
Every new direction turned
We will never stop being controlled
We are all the same
And we will never escape them
