Uneaten Burger

An untouched plate, an empty heart.
Left alone, the fries become dry and stiff.
The buns turn stale, the patty cold,
lettuce wilted from a heat long past.
A party sounds outside,
the burger remains on the kitchen counter.
Without use, it remains there,
the heart giving way to mold and rot.
